The windlass locks tight with that satisfying click, and I could cinch it down one-handed even with gloves on during a drill. It’s compact enough to clip onto my pack and forget about until I need it, which is exactly why I bought it.

Practiced the one-handed windlass at the kitchen table last night, and the rod locked tight on the first try—even with my off hand. For something this small in my hiking pack, the fact that it’s field-tested by the Army gives me real peace of mind.

Picked one up to keep in my car door pocket, and the windlass rod is stiff enough that I can crank it down tight even with sweaty hands. The one-handed pull loop actually works as advertised, which is the whole reason I trust it over cheaper knockoffs.
